Its a new year and I have plenty of sewing projects to share with you. We are buried in snow here in Spokane, but not nearly as much as last winter. I definitely realized I needed more winter clothing since moving here, so I started with this cute cape. I’ve also made a few sweaters to share in the next few weeks.
Its my second project with a lining. The first one was a complete disaster, but this one turned out much better. There’s an optional detachable collar with Simplicity 8263. I got the supplies to make a faux fur collar, but if you’ve ever sewn with faux fur, you’d know how big of a mess it is. It frays and shreds absolutely everywhere. So it’s chilling in a plastic bag in the craft room.

I picked out this fabric while I was home with my mom just for this project. Its a pink woven wool with thick colorful threads sticking out. Its kind of kitschy and vintage with this style cape. The buttons and closure were fun details my sewing projects don’t usually include. I also cut my hair since I last blogged about sewing projects. I donated 12 inches! Its so nice having shorter hair a few people told me I’d regret the big chop. But I did it almost two months ago and I am still loving it. Any other short hair lovers out there?
